945-23 An Overview of Child Passenger Safety: Safe Transportation Practices for Caregivers
Date: Tuesday, April 25th, 2017 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Facilitator: Jamie Eklund
Location: Cornerstone Building 402 2nd Street S.E. Canton, Ohio 44702
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, motor vehicle injuries are a leading cause of death among children in the United States, even more so than from child abuse and neglect. Making sure children are in age- and size-appropriate car seats, booster seats, and seat belts reduces serious and fatal injuries by more than half. This training will provide an interactive overview of car seat safety for caregivers who regularly transport children. This training will discuss child restraint rules and guidelines, types of restraints and at what age they should be used, as well as how caregivers can help assure appropriate child passenger restraints are being used. Finally, this training will include some car seat installation demonstrations.
