Project KARE Charitable Program

Project KARE

Project KARE is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, more specifically to address the needs of Children and families served by Stark County Job & Family Services (SCJFS), Children Services Division.

Project KARE is a 501c3 charitable organization that believes every child is special and no child deserves to be denied what other children experience because of the inability of their families to provide a safe and nurturing home.  Project KARE believes it is important to recognize these children as we do our very own children - on their birthday, throughout the holiday season, when they return to school in the fall, and when they graduate from high school and college.  Requests for assistance are made through a referral from the child's assigned social worker.

In addition, Project KARE supports and recognizes SCJFS foster parents dedicated to caring for Stark County's most vulnerable children.

Programs

Rising Up...Moving On - Children in the custody of Stark County Children Services who are receiving their high school diploma, GED certificate, or college degree are recognized at a program held every June.  Individuals, families, or organizations may sponsor a child by making a donation. Donations cover the cost of lunch for the graduate and their guests, as well as a cash gift.

Back To School Project - Every August, with the assistance of individuals and organizations, Project KARE coordinates the collection of school supplies to be distributed to children in need,  Each year before school resumes, a back-to-school event is held for all foster families.  School supplies are provided to help foster children prepare for the start of the school year.

Birthday Buddies - The Birthday Buddies program relies on the support of the community to provide special life experiences, frequently taken for granted, for children in care of Stark County Children Services.  All children in custody on their birthday receive special recognition and a gift.

Annual Holiday Project

Adopt-A-Child - Individuals, families or organizations may provide gifts for children ages birth to 11. Donors are provided with the first name, sizes and gift suggestions for a needy child. Project KARE volunteers arrange to pick up the gifts in time for delivery before Christmas.

Adopt-A-Teen - Individuals, families or organizations may purchase a gift card or make a donation to assist with the purchase of gift cards for needy children ages 12 and older.

Stocking Stuffers - Project KARE partners with local organizations for the Stocking Stuffers Project. Stockings filled with fun items such as toys and candy, as well as school supplies and personal items for children of all ages, are collected and distributed.

Toy Drives - Individuals, families or organizations may host toy drives to collect new toys and games for children of all ages.

Foster Parent Recognition Events

Foster Parent Banquet - Each May a recognition banquet is held for foster and adoptive parents, licensed and approved by Stark County JFS.  They are recognized for their years of service, dedication, and commitment to caring for Stark County's most vulnerable children.

Fall Frolic - Every fall, an event is held giving foster and adoptive families the opportunity to interact and share experiences.  Families have the opportunity to enjoy lunch and refreshments and many fall-themed games and activities.
